R2D4 Kick-off Cosplay Guidelines
- The cosplay contest is open to all event attendees.
- The cosplay event will have two categories: OPEN CATEGORY and E-GAMES/X-PLAY CATEGORY. In the Open Category participants could cosplay any character that they want from any genre — anime, manga, games, comics, movies, western animation, visual kei, harajuku fashion, and console video game cosplay (original characters are not qualified). All characters from the E-Games MMORPGs (RAN Online, Cabal Online, Granado Espada, ZX Online, Nostale, Runes of Magic) and X-Play Casual (O2 Jam, Audition Dance Battle and OP7) are qualified for the E-Games/X-Play Category. “Characters from online games other than e-Games’ titles (RAN Online, CABAL Online, Audition, etc.) cannot be used for either categories (Open & e-Games/X-Play)”
- The R2D4 Kick-off cosplay contest will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2009.
- Fanservice (ie. yaoi, yuri, etc.) is allowed but should be “General Patronage”. Any kind of extreme kind of fanservice (ie. kissing, PDA, etc.) that is deemed inappropriate for minors are strictly prohibited. Keep in mind that the R2D4 Kick-off is a wholesome and a General Patronage event.
- Costumes that are too revealing (ie. exposes private parts) are prohibited. Scantly clad and/or sexy costumes are allowed but are not encouraged. The R2D4 Kick-off cosplay team has the right to disqualify any participant on this ground.
- All kinds of costume props must be handled with utmost care and must not be harmful to his/her fellow cosplayers, event staff and event attendees. Any kind of sharp and/or bladed objects that will be used as costume props that could cut human flesh are strictly prohibited. Any kind of pyrotechnic equipment/s that will be used as costume props that could render damage to the venue and/or property is strictly prohibited.
- The cosplay team, R2D4 Kick-off organizers and its staff will not be held responsible for damage or injury resulting from mishandling and/or negligence of a cosplayer in his/her use of props/materials throughout the duration of the event.
- R2D4 Kick-off organizers reserve the right to disqualify any cosplayer who ignores and/or violates any of the aforementioned guidelines.
- Registration and participation to the cosplay event constitutes that the cosplayer gives the right and the authority to R2D4 Kick-off organizers/staff, its sponsors and authorized press media to take pictures and/or videos of registered cosplayers, cosplay groups and its members and will be the sole property of the organizers/staff, its sponsors and authorized press media to be used for future publications and/or advertising promotions.
- The R2D4 Kick-off cosplay organizers reserve the right to change the rules and the prizes without prior notice.
Registration Guidelines
- The cosplay registration will be both an on-site registration and an online pre-registration. The on-site registration will be on November 28, 2009 at the event venue. Procedures regarding the online-pre registration are discussed in detail below.
- There will be no entry limit for the cosplay, however, there is a deadline for the registration. Anyone who registered before the deadline is included in the official list of R2D4 Kick-off Cosplay participants.
- The online pre-registration will be done through the Cosplay.ph website (http://www.cosplay.ph). To pre-register, you will need to have a cosplay.ph account (registration is free).Click here for the pre-register link or go to http://cosplay.ph/cphdatabase/member/register.php
Pre-registration deloads participants of the hassle to write their personal information on-site, but will have to confirm their pre-registration on the day of the event before the set deadline. Pre-registered participants who fail to confirm before the set deadline forfeit their reserved slot which will be given over to on-site participants. - All registrants (both pre-registered via cosplay.ph and on-site registrants) are required to submit a reference picture of the character that they will be cosplaying upon registration. Picture Reference Submission procedures are discussed in detail below.
- Cosplayers under eighteen (18) years of age as of cosplay event date must have their parent/s and/or legal guardian/s sign the waiver/image release form which will be distributed at the event.
Picture Reference Submission
- Each cosplayer is required to submit a digital file of the picture of the character that they will be cosplaying.
- All digital pictures must be in JPEG, GIF or PNG and must not exceed 10MB.
- All digital pictures must not go below 144 x 288 pixels (wallet size) and must not go beyond 792 x 594 pixels (short bond paper size).
- It is highly recommended to submit a full-body colored picture of the character that would be cosplayed. Black/white pictures are acceptable.
- For pre-registrants, please submit your photos as an e-mail attachment to cosplayph@gmail.com with the subject line: R2D4 KICK-OFFCOSPLAY – (First Name, Last Name).
For on-site registrants, please be ready with your photo files on a CD or USB. We shall not accept print outs of photos on the day of the event.

Craftsmanship = 40%
Accuracy = 30%
Stage Performance = 20%
Audience Impact = 10%
